Greene, Graham. The Potting Shed. New York: Viking Press, 1957. First edition. Broadway cast signed. Actor Richard Longman's copy. Longman originated the role of Corner in the original Broadway cast, which premiered at the Bijou Theatre, New York, on January 29, 1957. Longman then assumed the lead role of James Callifer when Robert Flemyng, who originated the role, left the show. This copy shows Longman's staging notes for James in pencil throughout; it is signed on the front free end paper by the original cast (less Longman and Flemyng), including Sybil Thorndike, Lewis Casson, Frank Conroy, Joan Croydon, Eda Heinemann, Stanley Lemin, Carol Lynley, Leueen MacGrath, Rudolph Weiss, and Maureen Hurley.
